Delivering meaningful outcomes in a rapidly changing, digital world

Key takeaways from AHR Expo 2020

Thousands of professionals, from engineers to OEMs, recently came together in sunny Orlando for the world’s largest HVACR event – AHR Expo. From panel discussions to product and solution demos at our booth, we had many conversations with our customers, prospects, partners, and members of the media about how Johnson Controls is delivering meaningful outcomes in a rapidly changing, digital world.

To kick off AHR, Johnson Controls executives George Oliver, Rod Rushing, Mike Ellis, Joe Oliveri and Jenny Stentz came together to discuss how Johnson Controls is adapting to changing customer demands. In such a fast-paced and dynamic industry, it’s critical to implement the appropriate technology, solutions and partnerships to help drive unique value for our customers – no matter what their end goal is – from reducing environmental impact to improving fan experience.

A big part of how we’re helping meet customer demands is by building a strong workforce. We held a discussion with Lincoln Tech that focused on addressing the trade skills talent gap, and how our partnership helps arm students with the technical skills they need to create and advance their careers.

From panel discussions to product and solution demos at our booth, we had many conversations with our customers, prospects, partners, and members of the media about how Johnson Controls is delivering meaningful outcomes in a rapidly changing, digital world.

At our booth, we showcased the most comprehensive portfolio of HVACR solutions, from new rooftop units like YORK® Sun™ Choice, building control systems like Verasys® and Metasys 10.1, new tools like HVAC designer and solutions, including Enterprise ManagementCompanion and Smart Connected Chillers.

A lot of conversations revolved around data. Where it comes from, why it’s important and what it can be used for. There are countless building systems and assets that produce data, and once an organization recognizes the value of utilizing their data, there is no limit to the unique outcomes they can create. The rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning are two technologies that are helping bring this to the forefront.

Speaking of data, we released the U.S. results of our 2019 Global Energy Efficiency Indicator survey at AHR. Clay Nesler, vice president of global sustainability and regulatory affairs, shared the findings that revealed 75 percent of surveyed organizations plan to increase their investment in energy efficiency, renewable energy and smart building technology.
